New in Designer: New ways to see your data, and new ways to put it to work

Survey data that’s ready to analyze

  • Analyze it as is. The new Survey Results V2 export gives each survey its own file, with a column for each question, and reflects every result edit and deletion.
  • Review it in Designer. Pick a survey in the new Survey Results tab to see all participant answers in one table.
  • Audit every change. Turn on the Survey Data Audit Log exports to export the history of who changed survey results and answers, and when.

Let custom fields do the math

Calculate a custom field’s value from other fields, like BMI from height and weight. It stays current for every participant, even those who enrolled before you added it. Check the “Calculated?” box for the field and give it an expression.

Close overdue tasks automatically

Prevent late submissions on time-sensitive surveys, such as EMAs. Check “Auto-Close” when you send a survey, and the task closes at its due time, even hours or minutes out.

Auto-Close checked in the Send Surveys setting; in the Task List, the task's due time runs out and it changes to Closed

Build custom reports in the new Jupyter Notebooks tab

Chart what the standard reports can’t, like an enrollment funnel or how two survey answers relate. Start from a sample notebook that charts enrollment over time, adapt it in Python, and share it with your project team. Once you enable data exports, it all runs inside Designer with nothing to install on your computer.

Included at no extra cost for a limited time.

Also new in Designer

A survey completed on a phone, and the three actions that run right away

Act on each survey submission

Trigger schedule actions the moment a participant submits a survey, like sending an alert for a reported serious adverse event. Set it up with the new “On Completing a Survey” schedule type.

A participant's Live Device Data tab with a table of step readings, and a segment of 18 participants with no sleep data in the last 7 days

See live device data and spot what’s missing

See a participant’s device data as it comes in on the new Live Device Data tab. To find everyone missing data your study needs, like sleep or steps, build a segment with the new Live Device Data filter and send them a reminder.

The same survey step on two phones, one light and one dark

Give your surveys a dark mode

Let surveys match each participant’s light or dark mode. It’s enabled for new surveys. To turn it on for an existing survey, choose the “Light & dark” supported color scheme in Survey Builder.

An expression field suggesting customFields.Weight, customFields.Height and currentLocale as you type

Write expressions faster

Expression fields now autocomplete functions, variables, custom field names, and survey result identifiers. They can also check a participant’s device and language, like showing iOS and Android participants different messages.
